WIldlife-watching Bali & lombok

Whilst not traditionally viewed as destinations for wildlife watching, Bali & Lombok do have a few natural escapes within their boundaries. Highlights are mostly birds & marine life, there are separate pages for birding & snorkeling/diving within these islands so they are only touched on here. These sites are mainly for those looking to escape into nature whilst visiting Bali/Lombok, it is however only a skip & a hop over to other main wildlife-watching regions in Indonesia so if you a have a few extra days don’t limit yourself & let us help you explore!

Where We Visit

Bali & Lombok

Whether you're going after something specific or you just want to escape into nature on your holiday, there are sites on both islands that are easily accessible as day trips, above & underwater. Otherwise wonderful accommodation also exits near these sites for an easy & relaxing eco-holiday.

Sites:

Bali Barat National Park- this large protected area in Bali's North-west is a fabulous area of savannah, monsoon forests, some of Bali's best beaches & most stunning islands. Famous for it's population of the beautiful & critically endangered Bali Starling, it is also home to a huge wealth of other special bird-life and many species can be seen on even a half-day trip. More information on this is on the birding page on these islands. Otherwise the endemic Eastern Black Langur is easy to see as is the Javan Treeshrew, other mammals can be seen, with even pangolins being seen occasionally. Off-shore a wealth of marine life can be seen on Bali's best reefs.

Nusa Penida- The tourism mecca of Nusa Penida is most well known for its cliff views but down below the surface it is famous for it's Manta Rays & Oceanic Sunfish, more information on this is on the snorkeling/diving page on these islands. The island has recently become a haven for some of Bali's rarest birds with good security populations of Bali Starling.

Lombok- Mainly for birding & marine life you can head to our pages for these on Lombok
